ABOUT
Amanda Bintz is a writer from Upstate New York who now calls Philadelphia home. She writes primarily speculative fiction, both sci-fi and fantasy, and nonfiction, including personal essays, articles, and reviews. Her work has been published in several acclaimed and popular literary magazines—see the Publications page for details.
Amanda graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a double-major in English and creative writing and a concentration in journalism. Amanda, who currently works in communications, has more than a decade of writing and editing experience across multiple industries, including stints in writing tutoring, student journalism, insurance, development/fundraising, immigration law, and graduate medical education.
Amanda began writing creatively around the age of 8. She completed her first novel, “Wolf Warrior,” when she was in the 4th grade. She is currently writing a second novel, a work of speculative fiction children’s literature, that her 4th-grade self would have loved. She is also working on a historical fiction/fantasy novel about Alexander the Great’s half-sister, Thessalonike.
Amanda is drawn to stories about women and feminism, environmentalism and nature, folklore, legends, history, and magic.
